On April 11th 2024, during the game between the Baltimore Orioles and Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park, Jackson Holliday, the first overall pick of the 2022 MLB draft, made his major league debut.
Today, he batted ninth and started as the second baseman. He had four at-bats without a hit but earned a walk from a hit-by-pitch and struck out twice. He also hit a ground ball to second base in the top of the sixth inning with runners on second and third (at the time, the Orioles were trailing the Red Sox 2:5), which brought home the runner from third, Colton Cowser.
Although the Orioles were initially down 0:5 by the fifth inning, they managed to score 3 and 4 runs in the sixth and seventh innings respectively. Additionally, Jordan Westburg hit a three-run homer off Red Sox pitcher Chris Martin to reverse the score, leading to a 7:5 victory over the Red Sox. With this win, the Orioles officially moved up to second place in the AL East.
